ACCOMMODATIONS
Accommodations fee includes all meals and lodging in private rooms. Students opting for on-campus housing will be lodged in the Blair House dorm “units” – comprised of 3 private rooms whose occupants share a connecting common living area and kitchen, as well as a common bathroom and bath facility (shower and bathroom separated). Linens and blankets (it can be cool at night) are provided by the College. The bathrooms, common rooms and areas are cleaned daily by College staff. Students are provided with keys to their rooms and dorm. A coin-operated washer and dryer is provided on campus. While there is no gym on campus, there is a modern YMCA five minutes away available on a daily basis for a reasonable fee.
Significant others are welcome to join us at a reduced rate (see “Fees”).
Students arrive on Sunday, August 10th (afternoon/early evening) and depart on Saturday morning, August 16th. Continental breakfast is served on day of departure. In certain circumstances, it might be possible to arrange Saturday night lodging on campus for an additional fee.
Mooring of Boats: College of the Atlantic, overlooking Frenchman's Bay, will make moorings available should you wish to sail up to Bar Harbor. If you wish to do so, a mooring (and showering facilities if needed) can be provided at a rate to be determined by the College.
FACILITIES
To enable late-night jamming without disturbing others, specific venues/buildings on campus will be available. Our student concert will be held in Gates Auditorium, a modern venue with excellent sound system. Internet access is available 24/7 on campus. WIFI is available in designated locations. In July, you will receive a WIFI Form so the College can arrange access prior to your arrival. Phones are available in the dorms, but require a calling card for outgoing long distance calls. During the day, messages can be left with the College reception office. While there is cell coverage on campus, reception can be inconsistent in certain areas.
MEALS
Meals are included in lodging fees for students who stay on campus. Meals begin with dinner on Sunday evening (August 10) and end with breakfast on Saturday morning (August 16), the day of departure. Specific menus (vegetarian, health needs) can be accommodated with advance notice. A full salad bar is offered as part of lunch and dinner menus. An optional Lobster Bake is offered on one evening.
If you have allergies, please indicate on the Registration Form. It is your responsibility to take the appropriate precautions. Towards this end, we will provide contact information for the appropriate person at College of the Atlantic so you can confirm that the College will be able to meet your needs.
Meals are available for participants who stay off campus. As much as possible, this should be arranged in advance as part of Registration.
If notified in advance, box lunches can be provided for participants and/or significant others if sight-seeing.
